Sunday Morning Hike Klipriviersberg Johannesburg – 2 June 2019

Sunday Morning Hike Klipriviersberg Johannesburg - 2 June 2019

Winter is here. It was 4C (39F) at 5 this morning. Interestingly enough the nature reserve still has many green patches. The temperature rose to 21C (70F) and we enjoyed a sunny morning throughout.

It was great seeing friends who had not been with us for a while viz Gena and Natasha. Thanks to all who participated and welcome to everyone who joined in for the first time. Thank you to Niren and Sylvia for co-hosting and to Annastacia, Gena, Liza, Natasha, Sylvia, Tanya and Tony for the photos.

More good news: from the 7th July we will be having 3 distances: 6K, 11K and the 15K! We will surely burn all those extra calories!!

  1. It sounds like you had the perfect hiking weather…I love crisp mornings that warm up to a pleasant 21 C. How nice that you saw so much wildlife. I got a kick out of the dassies when we were in S.Africa.

    1. Thanks Caroline, winter is here so it is kinda hard getting out of bed early in the morning to go hiking. But all is forgotten once you are out there in the country-side and the day starts warming up. I am certain you are aware that the dassie, this small friendly looking, well-furred, herbivorous mammal that only weighs 4 – 5 Kg (8.8 – 11 pounds) is a relative of the elephant (quite hard to see any relation yet this is the case). Keep well Caroline. TT

    1. Hi Sandy, I see that you joined the Facebook Group ‘Sunday Hiking and Walking Klipriviersberg Johannesburg’. Welcome to the Group! Join us on our next walk and hike at Klipriviersberg on Sunday the 7th July. Looking forward to seeing you at Klippies. TT

      1. That is my plan, will monitor the site for more information on starting times and meeting point. Have diarised😁
